The High Street

The High Street is said to be the most historic part of the town.

Sackville College and St. Swithuns Church are situated in The High Street and have been around for over 500 years.

Some of the oldest business in the town still trade in The High Street, such as C.R.Wickenden which first opened in 1907.

The High Street is also famous for having the longest continuous run of 14th Century timber framed buildings in the country.

Today many businesses trade from this historic street, such as Alexandra Durrant Chartered Accountants, Unwins and many more. Also Prezzo's Italian restaurant, Pizza Express and The Dorset Arms.

This is a picture of the High Street in bloom, the tower in the photo is East Grinstead's War Memorial.

Every May Day on bank holiday Monday, The High Street is transformed. Stalls and side shows are put out along the streets to entertain the families! Everybody has an all round good time.
