The High Street is said to be the most historic part of the town.
Sackville College and St. Swithuns Church are situated in The High
Street and have been around for over 500 years.
Three Protestant Martyrs were burnt at the stake in the High Street

Some of the oldest business in the town still trade in The High
Street, such as C.R.Wickenden which first opened in 1907.
The High Street is also famous for having the longest continuous
run of 14th Century timber framed buildings in the country.
