Moat Pond

A short walk from the town centre lies a peaceful and pretty pond with ducks and geese and surrounded by a recreation area. The use of the name "Moat" for this pond and the adjoining road reflects the name of the farm which occupied the land prior to construction work on the road between 1900 and 1950.

Weirwood Reservoir

Two miles or so to the south of town lies the Weirwood Reservoir, home to many water birds in the Wildlife Sanctuary bordering its shores. The Reservoir is also home to the local Sailing Club. This view shows the reed beds in autumn at the west end of the lake.
