A modern and popular centre, flanked by King George's Playing Fields.

The Centre contains a Gym, Swimming Pool, a wide variety of recreational and sports facilities, a bar and cafeteria. The Centre has good facilities for the disabled.

Chequer Mead Art Centre

Next to and including the old Chequer Mead Primary School building has risen a popular Community Arts Centre, comprising a 320-seat theatre, art/exhibition gallery, rehearsal rooms and an arts and crafts studio. The Arts Centre is a just short walk from the High Street and there is ample parking nearby.

Queen Victoria Hospital

On Holtye Road leading out of town towards Tunbridge Wells, about one mile from town centre. This famous hospital earned its reputation during the last World War when Sir Archibald McIndoe worked there pioneering plastic surgery on severely burned servicemen. Besides this specialty the hospital also does corneal grafting, as well as acting as general hospital for the area.
