CHOIRPOWER

“Choirpower” is a privately organised group. It began with 5 members in September 1996.  There are between 40-50 singers at present, many of whom have been with the choir for many years.  We are affiliated to the National Operatic & Dramatic Association ( NODA)

OUR PURPOSE: To create a choir for people to discover and improve their singing abilities, so that they get enjoyment and satisfaction from singing and performing a variety of music to a high level of competence.

Our conductor is Marion Shuster and our accompanist, Sue Harvey. They are well known local performers, teachers and conductors.

The choir perform show songs, standard, jazz and pop songs, very light classics and some folk songs. Some of the songs are to increase our music abilities but, mainly are for pure enjoyment.  We  have performed 75 concerts during the last 11 years!

We rehearse on Thursday evenings in Chequer Mead Rehearsal Room. We start promptly at 8.00 p.m., with a short warm up and exercises to improve singing and choir techniques.
