Woody
Woodmansey (born Mick Woodmansey in Yorkshire) began his drumming
career at the age of 14 with the formation of the band The Mutations.
His next band was The Roadrunners, and later The Rats with Mick
Ronson.
Woody was to work again with Mick Ronson - this time as David Bowie's
Spiders from Mars. He toured with David Bowie extensively and appeared
on 13 of his albums, including: Space Oddity (1969), Man Who Sold
the World (1970), Rise & Fall of Ziggy Stardust (1972), Hunky
Dory (1972), Aladdin Sane (1973) and Changes (1981).
He also worked with Dexy's Midnight Runners (Don't Stand Me Down
- 1985), Paul McCartney (Children in Need), Art Garfunkle, Screen
Idols (Premiere - 1979), Spiders from Mars (Spiders from Mars -
1976) and in 1977, he brought out the album U Boat from his own
band.called Woody Woodmansey's U Boat.
Woody has three sons and he lived in East Grinstead since 1973.
He says, "I love East Grinstead and couldn't think
of a better place to bring my family up in."
Woody is a keen supporter of Narconon's drug education services
because he believes that children should be warned of the dangers
of drug abuse.
